Holding the vision and trusting the process
Today, Charis International Missions has 140 Children of various age groups, from tiny toddlers as young as 6 years to college-going teenagers. Our children study in English medium schools and commute to school in their own school bus. The studious ones go on to complete their higher education in leading colleges. The young Rajashekar, the first addition to the Charis family, is now an engineering student. The skilled ones undergo technical training to become qualified electricians, plumbers and other technicians. And when our young adults find the right life partners, the family gets them married and supports the young couple to start a new life. The Charis International Missions supports every child to find his true calling and make a place for himself in the world, both meaningful and productive.
Charis International Missions also conducts regular programs for street children, like non-formal schooling for drop-outs and non-school going children. Counselling for parents to discourage child labour and child exploitation, special coaching for school going children in the slums in and around Chennai are also conducted regularly. These programs are specially designed for those children who cannot live with us but are as much in need of the grace to guide them through their difficult times.
Like every family, the Charis family too has its financial turmoil. Charis International Missions is constantly approached by various organizations and the authorities, to take on new members. But, with our current infrastructure and resources, we are unable to accept new members into the family.
